The only common feature between a spider crane and a truly creepy reptile – a spider – is that it has four long legs and is stretched out to support the ground during operation, making its appearance look very much like a spider. This new type of crane is very similar to a boom lift, but its smaller base and spider legs or “support legs” make it more versatile and widely used than a typical boom lift.

The main feature of spider lift crane is its compact design, which allows for operation within a limited area. When compact to the ‘driving position’, the smaller model can pass through a standard width door frame, while the largest model can pass through a standard double door. The driving mode of the large spider crane model also includes a quick disassembly system that allows for the dismantling of legs, lifting arms, and frames, thereby reducing the overall weight of crane transportation or lifting.

It has a patented overturning protection system: this system is composed of an onboard computer system that continuously measures the ground pressure of each leg through built-in “load cells”. During the lifting process, if the system detects that the support legs are losing ground pressure, an alarm will sound and the crane will begin to slow down and complete all functions. If both legs begin to lose ground pressure, the crane will automatically stop all functions that will bring the crane close to an unsafe position. When the alarm sounds and the crane is in a safe stop position, the operator can control the crane back to the safe lifting position.

Variable geometry support legs: The support legs are designed to lift in narrow spaces. It allows the legs to be locked in multiple positions on the swing joint, knee joint, and inner box joint. This means that micro cranes can be installed around obstacles, on aisles, or in machine rooms with very limited space.

Remote control and pressure sensitive control: Unlike most cranes, spider lift crane provides pressure sensitive control, which can accelerate or slow down the crane’s function based on the pressure input by the operator. Most models of spider crawler crane are also equipped with wireless remote controls, allowing the operator to be in the best advantageous position for the elevator without the need to operate control devices on board.

High quality materials and structure: smiley spider crane adopts a hexagonal keel boom design instead of a standard square boom, increasing strength and reducing sway. It is made of steel with a rated yield strength (psi) of 140000-160000, which is the steel with the highest yield strength of metal wire, making it thinner and lighter, but still more robust than most traditional crane materials.
